I have a question about the hunchback of notre dame?

hey guys so im a little bit confused about the hunchback of notre dame! in the book there is this pantom that staps phoebus. and later in the chapter a "priest" apears to la esmeralda and talks about how he killed pheobus. i realize that phoebus is still alive but im trying to figure out if the "priest" and phantom are both quasimodo! thanks so much if u can answer this!
